Aggressive Audio

Music that sweep the airwaves

Aggressive Audio is a Cebuano rock band based in Cebu City, Philippines. It is one of the numerous rock bands in Cebu that popularize rock songs using the Cebuano language. Such songs are referred to as BisRock, a term coined by a Cebuano writer, Januar E. Yap.

Aggressive Audio was formed in the early summer of 2000 by original band members, Archie Uy (guitarist), Eugene Corpin (lead singer), Sidney Alburo (rythm), Joel Abanque (drummer), and Vincent Ngalis (bass guitarist). Randolf Silvano (guitarist), joined later.

Original members were former altar boys and choir members of Mabolo Catholic Church. They began to manifest their talent through various invitations to perform during fiesta celebrations. Their passion to music in addition to talents clearly manifested in such activities.

Recognizing their talents, MC Rey Nadela (Brownian Method) nurtured the group by extending his help from coaching, to the group’s rehearsals, to the moral support most needed. He helped the band to perform in an annual concert in Cebu dubbed as “Yukbo: Ang Konsyierto” for 3 consecutive years. The group had also performed at YAMAHA recitals and performed as back-up band for the recitals.

The group was once known as “Teenage Chaos” but with the suggestion of MC Rey, they changed their group’s name to “Aggressive Audio”.

With the invitation of Gina of Junior Kilat, they auditioned to perform in Kahayag Café.

Aggressive Audio’s big exposure and entry into the mainstream of the city’s rock music community was its regular performance in Kahayag Café (2003). Soon after, Aggressive Audio have had performances on various invitations in Cebu and neighboring places.

The group began composing some songs. “Don’t Ever” is considered as the first song composed by the band’s leading composer, Eugene Corpin and Sidney Alburo. Since then, the band has been composing songs using Cebuano language.

In 2005, Aggressive Audio recorded and released its first album, “Pwerting Lingina”, as an independent record. Included in the album are the popular BisRock songs such as Senior Citizen, Lingin, Tangkong and Cok-kuto.

The group’s intention was to record their original compositions to serve as remembrance to Archie who would then go along with his family to immigrate in USA. While Archie was still in USA, Randolf Silvano joined the group as guitarist.

With some close friend’s suggestions, the group submitted “Pwerting Lingna” album to local FM radio stations. Among those stations, Smash FM believed in Aggressive Audio’s potentials and qualities. The station began to air the band’s songs which paved the way to Aggressive Audio’s road to stardom and greatly contributed to people’s acceptance to the new kind of music, BisRock.

Least expected, “Senior Citizen”, a song included in “Pwerting Lingina”, as well as other songs conquer the airwaves not only in Cebu and Visayas region but in Mindanao as well, where Cebuano-speaking people predominate.

The band is primarily influenced by Christian music. Each of the members has strong foundation in Christian faith. Other influences lay upon the member’s distinctive taste that blended well to the band’s music that has traces of the sound and feel of the 80’s rock, classics, love songs, guitar instrumental, the blues, nu-metal, smooth jazz, and the touches of other kinds.

Aside from numerous live performances, the band pours its energy for the release of its second album on the first quarter of 2007 produced by Archie Uy, one of the original member of the band. In the new album, Archie will also play guitar with the current guitarist, Randolf Silvano. This full length release will feature Aggressive Audio’s hit songs included in “Pwerting Lingina”.
